UPDATES!!!

 Hey Everyone!!

Sorry, it's been crazy! I have been so busy. I just wanted to be a little honest about what has been taking up my time. I had a baby near the end of 2024. She has spina bifida. And I have been in the trenches of doctor appointments, calls to insurance, settling bills, and applying for various disability assistance.

Through my education, I kind of already knew a little about spina bifida. When I learned about my baby's diagnosis while still in the womb, I started looking up wheelchair sports. To my dismay, there are not a lot of adaptive recreation options near me. I live in the east valley of Arizona. And most of the recreation options are in actual Phoenix, which is 30-45 minutes away from where I live. And I already make several trips to Phoenix Children's Hospital out that way, so spending more time driving sounds not fun. In my head, I made such great plans to start wheelchair and adaptive sports options for physical disabilities, 'cause again, I am a Recreation Therapist by trade. This is my training.

My 2017 Team

I have posted and mostly planned on posting mental health stuff on this blog because that has been where I have been working in the last 9.5 years, but this blog may take on a more broad view of recreation therapy. I still want to provide recreation therapy services, but as a stay at home mom, things are taking a few turns for me. I am still wanting to work with families, and I am hoping to get more of that up and running. I need to find my peoples though. If you have any friends or family (especially in Arizona) that would be interested in Recreation Therapy services, send them over here. I am willing to explore options, and I am just getting started on this blog. I hope to provide more information about what recreation therapy is and how it can help YOU. 'Cause it can help everyone if they are willing to let it.

I look forward to what this year will bring (even though it's already a third over). This is going to be fun. And it's gonna push me. I'm ready for the adventure. Are you?
